The Nia Technique – What is it?

Love your body, Love your life.

The History of Nia

Nia, initially standing for non-impact aerobics, was created in the 1980’s by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas with the aim to revolutionise the way individuals get fit and look after their mind, body and soul. They wanted to create a low impact movement suitable for everybody that encompassed the mind, body, spirit and emotions. Here was born Nia; and a new genre of fitness called body-mind fitness.

The Nia technique soon became legendary for its barefoot fusion workout and pleasure-based approach to fitness and health. The Nia technique has become so popular, it is taught to individuals with special needs such as autism, to prison inmates and is an accredited program taught in American schools, Colleges and Universities.

Today, Nia is taught by around 2,200 licences teachers across 45 countries worldwide.
